In addition to the history and the new friends that I made in Berlin, the thing that I liked most about the city was how laid back it felt. The vibe of the city felt so relaxed to me, and was just what I needed. My first day there, Mark and I went to explore the weekly Flea Market. I've never seen such a big one and we wandered around for hours :)
One of the coolest things about the flea market is that around every corner there was a small beer garden for relaxing. There was also live music playing in the park right next to it that gathered quite a crowd. It was one of the most relaxing Sundays :)
There was a lot of junk there (read: old shoes, etc), but there was one thing that caught my eye. It was a necklace with an owl on it, and the owl has a clock inside. It was just so cute that I had to buy it (I mean, come on, just look at how cute those eyes are!!!). It's almost become somewhat of a security blanket for me and it's something that I hold on to when I need a little extra support. Mark was also looking for a present for his sister -- he had previously bought her a snow angel in another city which she didn't like -- so I convinced him to buy one as well. I mean, who doesn't want a really cute owl necklace?!
